SKYSCRAPERS
Impressive skylines, multiplied skyscrapers, cities without limits. 2008/2009
Lucchini is amazed by the skyscrapers of the United Arab Emirates, symbol of the ambition of oil-founded populations, where the most backward burqa and the most futuristic skyscraper live together. He is struck by the great changes (“science moves on fast, civilization is slow”) and he wants to testify the contradictions of the contemporary world. He transferred, assembled, and painted images of real Dubai skyscrapers using the brush or the mouse. He multiplied, modified, and colored them in order to render the idea of a urban scenario without limits that is expanding towards a different idea of city.
