From April 7 to June 30, on the occasion of Milano Design Week, The Lab at the FLA Museum, a space dedicated to the promotion of emerging talents, opens the first solo exhibition of MaoSagao, an Italian artist based in Barcelona.
Through the exhibition Facades – Order in Chaos, MaoSagao explores the fragile balance between order and chaos in contemporary reality. The facades of urban buildings become symbols of our era: windows onto a repetitive daily life, mirrors of shared solitude. The artist reflects on the sense of alienation in contemporary cities, increasingly resembling anonymous beehives, and on the constant tension between the search for order and the awareness that every balance is fragile and temporary.
The painting technique is characterized by the use of masking with acrylics on canvas, a labor-intensive process requiring numerous steps and great precision to achieve the desired effects. Each layer of color is applied with extreme care so that the overlaps and intersections of lines and shapes create a coherent and visually compelling balance. MaoSagao’s art does not provide answers but opens a window onto an inner dialogue, encouraging viewers to find a guiding thread even where none seems to exist.
The exhibition is completed by "kombinatorika 9! x 4^9 = 95,126,814,720", nine cards, each different from the others. Visitors can create their own unique version, different from every other. Just like every human being. A game, a small participatory performance, and a reflection on the power of differences.
