A great anthology is dedicated to Flavio Lucchini, presented at the Palazzo Ducale in Sabbioneta, the "ideal city" in the province of Mantua. A tribute to the work of a fellow citizen rooted in the world but who has not forgotten his Mantuan origins. The idealized dress, a metaphor for contemporary society, the leit-motif of Lucchini's research, enters the building, with site-specific installations in dialogue with the ancient rooms and the traces of the past that still animates it. The exhibition of the Palazzo Ducale allows to know in an exhaustive way the artistic path of Lucchini and at the same time to visit the Ducal Palace of Sabbioneta through 20 fascinating rooms.
As the curators Anna Vergine and Gabriele Fallini write "... The soul of the dress corresponds and is parallel to the soul of the architecture of Sabbioneta, the city of foundation created by Vespasiano Gonzaga Colonna, a great and tenacious character who, through his belief in a idea made the dream of an Ideal City come true. The City of Sabbioneta is a grandiose urban scenography invented by its founder, whose main monuments are conceived as interior scenographies: for the public (Teatro all'Antica), for political-administrative representation (Palazzo Ducale), for the "leisures" and the private collections (Palazzo Giardino with Galleria degli Antichi). Flavio Lucchini, like Vespasiano Gonzaga Colonna, having left the time of the 'battles' on the operational field (one in fashion publishing, the other in military art), proposes the idea of the end of the era of ostentatious luxury and the beginning - or the return - of a conception of intellectual elegance, linked to a refined sobriety, which also looks at the sublimation of the beauty of a moment, almost a tribute to 'who has been and now is elsewhere': the dress and living in history. A great tribute to History, Art and Culture that the work of Flavio Lucchini, in a monumental place of historical importance such as the City of Sabbioneta, intends to propose through the vitality of the expressive and communicative language in full harmony with dialogue with temporality. and the awareness of being human ".
