FLA FlavioLucchiniArt Museum, October 19-20, 2024. Open from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, by reservation only through the ApritiModa website www.apritimoda.it.
On the occasion of ApritiModa 2024, with the small exhibition PLISSÉ, Lucchini plays with shapes, volumes, and details of abstract, dream-like garments that sometimes emerge from the very material, catalyzed resin, of which they are part, or expand in light flights, as if driven by the wind.
Pleats, back in trend in contemporary fashion, are a fabric that seems to transform every garment into a work of art. The precise and regular folds give movement and fluidity, adding a sophisticated touch to the wearer. They capture the light and create architectural shadow plays. Lucchini transfigures pleats in plaster or resin, or in steel covered in gold leaf, enhancing both structure and lightness. In the exhibition, displayed in the Atelier space of the Museum, are bas-reliefs and sculptures that permanently capture form, making eternal the impressions and memories tied to the garments of Krizia, Issey Miyake, and Yohji Yamamoto.
In this spirit, the video dedicated to Miyake's work highlights the extraordinary Japanese fashion designer who made pleats a universal garment philosophy. His art pieces, with their imposing volumes that expand with movement, or the slim Pleats Please in every color designed for everyday use, which take on the form of the body underneath, dance through the books dedicated to him and tell women that there is a way to dress alike yet remain different, for what matters more than the garment is the personality of the one who wears it
